Participation Games are at the heart of Attack!

All weekend long, clubs and independent creators will be running a huge variety of games you can jump straight into—no experience required. From beautifully crafted custom scenarios to classic systems with a creative twist, these games are a chance to roll some dice, push some miniatures, and try something new without commitment.

Whether you’re showing off a passion project, representing your club, or just looking to sit down and play, Participation Games are all about sharing the hobby. Meet fellow gamers, discover new rulesets, and experience the incredible creativity of the wargaming community!

Participation Games at Attack! 2026

On Bloody Ground

Genre: Historical Mass Combat

Ruleset: "The New Kingdom" rules by WiP Games and Miniatures

A 28mm ancient battle between New Kingdom Egyptians and Sea Peoples, with roughly 100 miniatures per side plus chariots. Run by WiP Games and Miniatures, who design and manufacture the figures themselves.

Battle of the Boyne

Genre: Historical

Ruleset: Twilight of the Sun King

A 6mm recreation of the Battle of the Boyne (1690), put on by Last Chance Wargames who have been a regular presence at Attack for over ten years.

French & Indian Wars / Robin Hood Skirmish (two games, one per day)

Genre: Historical Skirmish

Ruleset: Saturday – Tales of Derring Do (TODD); Sunday – Robin Hood

Skirmish Wargames are running two separate 28mm demo games across the weekend — a French & Indian Wars skirmish on Saturday and a Robin Hood themed game on Sunday.

LITTLEWARRES

Genre: Historical (17th Century)

Ruleset: A new combined LITTLEWARRES and WARRGAME 17thC ruleset

Run by Steve Jones of The Officers Mess (winners of Best Participation Game the previous year), this is a large-scale 17th century wargame with skirmishes nested within a full battle, running a new game for public participants every hour.

A Ruckus of Reivery! (Blackadder game)

Genre: Historical Skirmish

Ruleset: Ruckus rules

Run by the Ruckusteers, this game features the Border Reivers of the early 16th century. Players take on the role of Reiver Captains or a Deputy Warden, with multiple objectives including a cattle raid, a hostage rescue, and a cameo from Black Adder. A continuous drop-in/drop-out game for 2–6 players.

Luftwaffe 1946

Genre: Historical – WWII/Korean War Air Combat

Ruleset: Luftwaffe 1946

Run by the Wargames Association of Reading, players take a flight of four aircraft and engage bombers, ground targets, or enemy fighters on a hex mat using 6mm models. One day will be late WWII, the other Korean War. Quick to pick up and play at 30–60 minutes per game.

Bot Wars

Genre: Sci-Fi

Ruleset: Bot Wars

Run by Swindon and District Wargamers, transforming robots battle for world domination in this drop-in/drop-out participation game.

Attack on Blindheim

Genre: Historical

Ruleset: Not specified

Depicts the assault by General Cutt's British and German infantry (supported by British cavalry under Lumley) on Blindheim, Bavaria in 1704, with General Clerambault and Vertilly's Gendarmes defending.

Wings of Glory Aerodrome – WW1 Dogfight

Genre: Historical – WWI Air Combat

Ruleset: Wings of Glory

A WWI air combat participation game using 1/144 scale models. 6–8 players can join per game, requiring 6–8 chairs.

Blood and Plunder

Genre: Historical

Ruleset: Blood and Plunder

Run by South Coast Quartermasters, three simultaneous participation games covering land, sea, and amphibious combat. Each game takes 4–8 players.

Nowhere is Sacred – Empire of the Dead

Genre: Victorian Sci-Fi / Steampunk

Ruleset: Empire of the Dead by WestWind Productions

An introductory participation game in the vein of Mordheim, featuring vampires and steampunk elements in a Victorian setting.

Snow White and the Seven Samurai

Genre: Fantasy/Historical Skirmish

Ruleset: Home-grown rules for medium-sized skirmishes

Run by the Combined Oppos, set in the fictional district of Wah-Shango where opposing Samurai factions vie for supremacy. Running both days of the show.

Hamminkeln – Gliders Across the Rhine (March 1945)

Genre: Historical – WWII

Ruleset: Rapid Fire

Run by Hereford Old Guard, a 10mm participation game in which players must hold the bridges and prevent the escape of the Germans during the Rhine crossing in March 1945.

Conflict in Palestine – Egyptians vs Assyrians

Genre: Historical – Ancient

Ruleset: Not specified

Run by Newbury and Reading Wargames Society this is a spectacular 28mm ancient battle featuring large numbers of figures and chariots, with public participation for multiple players who can join for as long as they like.

What a Cowboy!

Genre: Tongue-in-cheek Historical (Western)

Ruleset: What a Cowboy!

A Cow Boy participation game for 2–8 players. Sunday only, replacing a Saturday-only slot.
